Melrose Dryburgh Abbey Country house hotel

The Abbey dates back to the 12th century. The hotel is from the mid 19th century. In the 16th century a local woman fell in love with a monk at the Abbey. they managed to keep their affair a secret for a while. Then the Abbott found out and sentenced the Abbott to death for breaking his wows.He was hanged and the woman threw herself from the bridge.
Her ghost appears on the bridge and in the hotel.
