The spirit of the so-called 'Black Nun'. The Nun's brother, Phillip Whitehead, was a cashier and was executed in 1811 for forgery. The Nun, Sarah, wearing black, waited for him outside the bank every evening for 40 years until she died.

Rev. Ralph Hardy, a retired clergyman from White Rock, British Columbia, took this now famous photograph in 1966. He intended merely to photograph the beautiful staircase in the Queen's House section of the National Museum in Greenwich, England. Upon development, however the photo revealed a shrouded figure climbing the stairs, seeming to hold the railing with both hands. Experts, including some from Kodak, who examined the original negative concluded that it had not been tampered with. Its been said that unexplained figures have been seen on occasion in the vicinity of the staircase, and unexplained footsteps have also been heard.

This remarkable image first appeared in the Chicago Sun-Times (12-21-03) and was apparently captured with a closed-circuit security camera at Hampton Court Palace in London, England. The palace was built in 1525 on the River Thames 10 miles west of central London and was one the the places that King Henry VIII lived. Jane Seymour, his third wife, died there giving birth to a son, and her ghost is said to walk through one of the cobbled courtyards carrying a candle. No one seems to know what this ghostly figure represents but according to security, it sure looks like a ghost.

In 1982, this photograph was taken of the interior of London's St. Botolph's Church, but never expected what would appear on the film. High in the church's loft, seen in the upper right-hand corner of his photograph, is the transparent form of what looks like a woman.

Looking into the chapel you may see the ghost of an old clergyman who has flowing locks of grey hair and is dressed in old-fashioned robes. His doleful, though tuneless whistling will grow steadily louder as he glides across the chapel and melts slowly away into the wall to the right of the gates. Everyone who has seen him has attested to the fact that he always follows the same time worn path and that he always vanishes into the same section of the wall.

Claims of a figure who appears on the tracks at night. The ghost is that of an actress who believes she has not enjoyed her last curtain call, supposedly haunts the station. Aldywch used to be on the site of the old Royal Strand Theatre.

A tall man in a frock coat, tall hat and gloves is said to be pacing the tunnels and has been seen since the 1950s. The ghost is supposed to be actor William Terriss who was fatally stabbed near the Adelphi Theatre in the Strand in December 1897.

The Wakefield Tower is haunted by Henry VI who was murdered by the Duke of Gloucster on 21st May 1471 as he prayed.

Cleopatra's Needle is a 60 ft tall Egyptian obelisk which stands on the Thames. Some say Cleapatra cursed the needle. It is not the needle itself that is haunted but the area surrounding it. Mocking laughter and anguished cries have been heard and it the place where most suicides have occured along the Thames. The Ghost of one of these suicided has been seen on many occasions. A tall man who jumps into the river without making a splash.

Amen court is a small alleyway close to St Paul's Cathederal. It backs onto the former sight of Newgate prison. The alley is now known as "Dead man's walk" because there have been many sightings of a dark shapeless figure sliding along the wall accompanied by the sound of chains. It is thought the be the ghost of a cat burgler called Jack Shepherd.

Tower of London ghost!

Tara writes, "My sister went to England a few years ago and took a picture of the gears of the draw bridge in the tower of London for my dad who is an engineer. When we got the pictures back this was in it. We looked through all the pic and there was not one that this could be a double exposure of. I took it to Kodak and they said they have no idea what it is. When she went they told her of a story about two young boys (princes) who went missing while they were sleeping and were never found. Look closely and you will see feet and a long gown like the ones worn back then and a page boy haircut. This pic really freaks me out. My sister said at the time it was the middle of the day and there was nothing there. I wish you would look at it and tell me what you think. The pic is in bad shape because I have had it a few years and have shown it to all my friends. Please write me back and tell me your opinion."
